The 2nd best coach in college football(1 BEAR BRYANT)
This was a very intrestling book about the 2nd best coach and the incredible story of the 1991 season. This is a must read book for FSU Fans everywhere. I thourghly enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves college football.

Excellent, as seen from the inside!
As a freshman at Florida State in '91, I worked with the football team as a student athletic trainer. I remember Ben Brown, and how he spent almost every minute with the team, nearly becoming a part of it. Take it from someone who was there: Ben Brown got it right. If you want to know what a season at the top of college football's elite feels like, read this book. Even today, reading passages takes me back to memories I will never forget. I just wish Ben could have been with us in '93, when we won the National Championship, so he could have written a happier ending.

saint bobby and the barbarians
I felt this book reached deep down into college football. I was thrilled when names such as Edgar Bennet, Charlie Ward, Amp Lee, and Danny Kanell. I felt the boos of the opossing fans and felt the cheers of ours. Until I read this book, I never realized the preparation it takes to coach a college football team. This was a well planned, well thought, documentation of Florida State Football.

Garcia lorca doe it again
Whether you have children or not Buy this book. If you have children read them the landscape poetry in here. They will sing them in their sleep. It will take them on magical journeys to happy places and you also.

this is the one to buy
I just started browsing through a book of his poems in spanish one day and loved them, but my spanish is marginal. This has the spanish poems side by side with english translations, many of which I don't really like because they do things like switch words and lines and take a little too much freedom and change the spirit of the poem, but that's okay. You can read the spanish, read the english, and see exactly what has been changed, but the beauty is in the spanish ones, and though his vocabulary is large, yours doesn't really have to be to appreciate the sound and sight of these poems in spanish. I love many of the sonnets, plus the king of harlem, which reminds me of HCE from Finnegans Wake, this character that becomes the landscape itself, "after walking", and many others from the poet in new york. I've just been getting into some spanish poets after reading some st john of the cross and seeing what types of flows and life can be infused into words in this language, and these dark, bloody grimy oozes of language have had me high for weeks.

Great, One of the best collections of Lorca's poems
Brilliant, emotions of positive and negative are tasted in this work

The Shadow Scrapbook
Published in Paperback by Harcourt (June, 1979)
Authors: Walter Brown, Gibson and Anthony Tollin
Average review score:

A real gem!
This book turned out to be so much more than I had hoped, containing information on all aspects of the Shadow. The book begins with Gibson's excellently written history of his writing of the shadow stories, has a list of Shadow novels, shows Shadow covers (many in color!), discusses the Shadow's agents, shows illustrations, and then has a never before published Shadow story: The Riddle of the Rangoon Ruby! Then the book covers the Shadow radio show, includes a list of all broadcasts, and has the scripts of two broadcasts (The Death House Rescue-1937, and the White Legion-1938). Then the Shadow movies are covered, and the Shadow comics; including a whole comic adventure entitled the Mystery of the Sealed Box. Finally there are notes on codes used by the Shadow, and various old-time Shadow merchandise.

See? Everything you could want! This is book is a real gem, and must have for any Shadow fan. I enjoyed Gibson's story of writing the Shadow beyond anything I could have imagined, and absolutely loved the Rangoon Ruby. I sincerely hope that they someday reissue this book.

Sing a Song of Popcorn: Every Child's Book of Poems
Published in School & Library Binding by Scholastic (September, 1988)
Authors: Beatrice Shenk De Regniers, Marcia Brown, Beatrice Schenk de Regniers, Mary Michaels White, and Eva Moore

A great addition of any bookshelf
This marriage of poetry and illustrations is like no other. As an educator I enjoy the layout of the book. The poems are divided into categories such as poems about weather, spooky poems, and animal poems. The illustrations are by Caldecott Medal artists - the best of the best! I have purchased countless copies of Sing a Song of Popcorn as it is a perfect gift to give to families to celebrate the arrival of a new baby. It is a book that all members of the family can enjoy - the young ones will enjoy the rhyming patterns of some of the poems and the silliness of others. The adults will treasure the inclusion of such classic poems as Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and Jack Prelutsky's entertaining "The Spaghetti Nut".

Collection of fantastic poems
You don't have to be a certain age to enjoy this book, full of wonderful poems from various well known poets. There is a poem for every walk of life in this book. This book is sure to be on your shelf for many years to come!

An excellent resource for elementary teachers :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of poetry and the beautiful illustrations which accompany. As a kindergarten teacher, I found the anthology to be an invaluable resource for introducing young children (or any children) to the world of poetry. :

Small Brown Dog's Bad Remembering Day
Published in Unknown Binding by Bt Bound (March, 2000)
Author: Mike Gibbie
Average review score:

terrific book!
This is a great book. Small Brown Dog has lost his collar and can't remember his name -- the story follows him as he visits with other dogs who all remember individual things about him (for instance, that he likes to splash in puddles) but can't remember his name either. The ending is inventive and funny, children and adults will both enjoy this book. I also loved the illustrations, they convey action and excitement as well as a bit of sweet goofiness.

Fabulous Read Aloud Book
Scott Simon read this book on NPR's Weekend Edition on November 25th and it is a wonderful book. I've only heard it on the radio but it made such an impression being read aloud which shows how good it is.

It's on my daughter's wish list already.

CHILDREN'S BOOK FOR ADULTS, TOO!
THE STORY LINE MOVES ALONG AND EACH CHARACTER INTRODUCED ADDS TO THE COLORFUL MIX. SMALL BROWN DOG ISN'T TOO FAR REMOVED FROM MAY OF THE PEOPLE WE ENCOUNTER EVERY DAY.

CHILDREN WILL LOVE THIS BOOK BUT ADULTS WILL ENJOY IT JUST AS MUCH.

Snapshots Of Heaven

Authors: Joyce Vollmer Brown and Gwendolyn Babbitt

Snapshots Of Heaven -- Inspiration in 96 pages
This small book was born out of the meditations of the author during a serious illness when heaven was a very near thought. Perhaps because of this experience, Joyce Brown can give such great thoughtful insight in heaven. Uplifting and encouraging with a touch of the gospel, this little book makes good inspirational reading for anyone that find themselves in the dumps. Makes a great gift. I would make one suggestion. Don't try to read it all at once. It meant to be read slowly so as to give the thoughts enough time to sink in.

Very well done
The perfect book for a person who has lost someone close. It was very comforting and the pictures were beautiful. I especially liked that the illustrations were placed over different views of the sky.

A Must Have Book
This book is a "must have" in your home. I keep copies in my guest room and on my livingroom sofa table. Most of my guests ask for a copy of the book to take with them. The artwork is lovely and the writing makes us hope that the author has truly had a chance to view Heaven firsthand! You won't regret buying this book!!!!

THIRST FOR MORE
SOAKING THE YULE LOG IS NOT ONLY READING FILLED WITH FASCINATING LAYERS OF HISTORY, IT ALSO EMBRACES THE VERY CORE OF EVERY FAMILY'S TRIUMPHS, FEARS AND DREAMS. KATIE BROWN BENNETT DELIVERS A MOVING STORY OF HER ANCESTORS' THRIVING WILL TO NOT ONLY SURVIVE, BUT TO LIVE FULLY DURING TIMES OF SLAVERY, WAR, STRUGGLE AND FREEDOM. THE VERY ESSENCE OF HER TEXT IS ONE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCEPTANCE, NOT BLAME AND DENIAL. THIS STORY FOCUSES ON THE TRIUMPHS, THE COURAGE, THE DETERMINATION, THE FAITH. AND MOST IMPORTANT, IT GLORIFIES THE EXPERIENCES CREATED BY HER ANCESTORS INSTEAD OF THOSE EXPERIENCES CREATED AGAINST HER PEOPLE. HOW REFRESHING TO EXPLORE THE POSITIVE DRIVE OF A FAMILY FOR ITS DREAMS AND RIGHTS IN A PERIOD OF TIME SO REHASHED FOR ITS OPPRESSION. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WELL DOCUMENTED GIFT OF STORY. IT IS EDUCATIONAL, BALANCED AND FLAVORED WITH CHARACTER.

excellent research, a well developed story of her family his
I read this book in a single afternoon. I didn't think the book would be entertaining but was pleasantly surprised when I found myself at the end. I want to do this for my children. Ms. Bennett's family must be extreamly proud of her.
